  Notes	In later life, became a commissioner of Inland Revenue for the UK - see London Gazette for 1958 and 1964 per Ann Green, Sir John Evans wrote a letter to Lady Somerleyton in 1961 and it was printed in the local newsletter, mostly reminiscences of Somerleyton school etc but with a footnote saying: ‘Sir John went on to Lowestoft Grammar School in 1915 and on to university. He played hockey for Wales in 1935 and cricket for Suffolk. He married in 1936, had one son, then aged 16 (in 1961). He lived near Meopham Green, and was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue, Somerset House, London.’
