HOWES G, Stoker, 1st Class, Royal Navy
He volunteered in November 1914 and in the following year proceeded to the Dardanelles in HMS Lord Nelson. After the evacuation of the peninsula he was transferred to HMS Ouse which was engaged on important duties under Admirals Jellicoe and Beatty in the North Sea with the Grand Fleet. After the armistice he died of typhoid fever and was buried at Scartho Cemetery. He was entitled to the 1914-1915 Start and the General Service and Victory Medals.
