They arrived 1637 on Mayflower III in Salem, Ma. Our Howes Family Association was formed in 1987 (350th anniversary). We hold a reunion every three years and have accumulated many histories and storys of our ancestors. Howes Great London Circus that played before the Queen as 'The Great United States Circus'. The London Illustrated has article and drawings of the event.
Howes of Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, So Africa and Australia have signed the guest book and placed pins in world map. Even everyones favorite, Sally Ann.
Cape Cod Howes' Captain's sailed all over the world. A book has been written on one Howes murder in front of his wife and child by pirates in South Seas. Nothing has changed in So. Seas.
We are searching for Thomas's English roots. Since 1896 we thought it was Morningthorpe as it was owned by Howes but, not until 1868 we find. Bummer.
The DNA Howes site is in part an effort to find my matches in England and thus narrow the search to section of England.
I have also started a Facebook Howes GROUP. More later.
