      Be it known unto all men in these presents that on the 3rd day if November in the year of our Lord 1899 the last Will and Testament of Frederick Edgar Howes of Launceston in Tasmania mining investor deceased who died at Gunn St Launceston aforesaid in the 13th day of October 1899 (a true copy of which is hereunto annexed) was exhibited and proved before the Ecclesiastical Court and that administration and all and singular the goods chattels … credits and effects of the said deceased within the island of Tasmania and the dependencies thereof …. hereby committed to Artur Biddell of Launceston in Tasmania confectioner and Joseph Will of the same plae mining investor the executors in the said will named They the said Arthur Biddell and Joseph Will having been twice? sworn to perform the said will by paying …. the debts of the said deceased and then to the …. therein bequeathed so far as the estate shall hereunto extend and the law extend? Them And to make and exhibit unto this Honorable Court a true and ….. all and every the goods chattels … credits and effects of the said deceased … before the 3rd day of May now next ensuing and to render a fair and true account of their executorship when there shall be …… called hereunder And …. that they believe the godds chattels … credits and effects of the said deceased at the time of his death did not exceed in value the sum of £566 in Tasmania and the dependancies thereof

      This is the last Will and Testament of me Frederick Edgar Howes of Launceston in Tasmania mining investor whereof I appoint Arthur Biddell of Launceston in Tasmania confectioner and Joseph Will of the same place Mining Investor Trustees and Executors I direct that all my just debts and general and testamentaryexpenses shall be duly paid and …… out of my personal estate. I give devise and bequeath all real and personal estate of which I shall be possessed or entitled to or over which I shall have any dispersing power at the time of my decease unto the said Arthur Biddell and Joseph Will their executors administrators and assigns upon trust to pay the net annual interest and income thereof to my wife, Kate Elizabeth Howes for the maintenance and support of herself and my adopted son Robert Tyson Howes until he shall attain the age of 21 years And upon his attaining that age Upon trust to sell, call in and convert into money the same or such part thereof as shall consist of money And stand possessed of the proceeds to arise from such sale calling in and conversion and of such part of my personal estate as shall consist of money Upon trust after payment thereof of all incidental expenses To pay two third parts thereof to my said wife absolutely and to pay the remaining one third part thereof to my said adopted son absolutely I declare that in the event of my said son dying under the age of 21 years the whole of my estate shall …. to my said wife absolutely I direct that the Trustees in the time being of this my will may at any time during the minority of my said adopted son if they shall consider it advisable . . . . sell any mining share or interests belonging to my estate and stand possessed of the proceeds arisign therefrom as part of my personal estate I declare that any moneys requiring investment under this my will may be invested in or upon stocks funds or securities of the Government of Tasmania or any of the Australian Colonies or upon mortgage of freehold property in Tasmania or any of the Australian Colonies upon the funds of any Banking Company or Building Society in Tasmania or any of the Australian Colonies with power for my Trustees from time to time to vary the said invesments for others of the same or like nature And lastly I hereby revoke all….Wills and Testamentary dispositions at any time heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament I set my hand this 31st day of December 1897 Frederick Edgar Howes
