In the Name of God Amen I John Howse of the Parish of Downampney in the County of Gloucester do by this my last Will and Testament being of sound mind and understanding desire my Executors hereafter named to conduct my funeral in the same manner as my late Mothers and that my body be interred as near my late Relations as convenient First I desire that all my debts be paid in six months after my decease Next I give and bequeath my third part my whole right and title of a Freehold Estate called Southhill in the parish of Maisey Hampton in the County of Gloucester to my brother Robert Morgan Howse now living in London and after his decease to Mary Howse his said Wife and after her decease to Henry Son of Edmund Howse of Highworth in the County of Wilts to hold the said South Hill third share of that Estate and their heirs for ever next I give my Godson John Howse now of Swindon my silver tankard Also fifty pounds in money next I give to my Niece Sarah Howse my silver pint Cup next I give and bequeath to Mary Ann Beames fifty pounds next I give and bequeath to x (insertion) her mother Jemima Beames fifty pounds Next I give and bequeath to Isaac Beames Son of the above fifty pounds Also I give and bequeath to Edward Beames of Downampney ten pounds Also I give to Sarah Herbert if she continue to live with me the bed and bedstead she sleeps on and also twenty pounds in money if living with me at the time of my decease next I appoint the two following my Executors my brother Edmund Howse of Highworth And I give and bequeath to him one hundred and fifty pounds in money and I give and bequeath to him my Cattle Waggons Carts and all Implements in Husbandry Household Goods remaining on the premises Next I give to Mr John Wise of Asbrook ten pounds and appoint him my other Executor to this my last Will and Testament In witness thereof I have set my hand and seal this 12th day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty four and in the fifth year of the reign of Lord George the fourth John Howse Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us John Herbert – Thomas Herbert – The mark of X Henry Dane
