son of Robert Rising and Ann. William died 1846 and is buried in the chancel of West Somerton Church. William Rising was the squire of West Somerton Hall, the big house beside the church in West Somerton. They had several children and lived at West Somerton Hall. Children of William Rising and Elizabeth Howes had the surname of Howes except the last 3 children. At least William Junior was a son of Elizabeth, per the parish register
William Rising was of Martham House at the time of writing his will. Thanks to Judy Jones for the following details:
He appoints his wife, Elizabeth and son, William Rising of West Somerton, gentleman and friends, Sir Edmund Henry Knowles Lacon of Ormesby House in the parish of Ormesby St Michael and Baronet Thomas Browne of Thrigby and the Reverend John Morton of Caister next Yarmouth, clerk to be executrix and executors of the will.
Messuages, tenements, etc including Martham House and surrounds - many pieces of land, property etc for the use his son William Rising and heirs.
Benjamin Rising is an Ensign in Her Majesty's 76th Regiment of Foot. - lands cottages, tenements in Repps
Thomas Sutfield Rising - marshes and lands lying in Potter Heigham
Eliza Rising (now in Paris) - dwelling house, lands and hereditaments in Martham
Harriet Wells - paintings, books, prints
Wife Elizabeth - farming stock, grain, crops, farm buildings, and lands in my occupation situate in Martham and Potter Heigham
Robert Rising, nephew of Horsey - 2 pounds for a mourning ring
